Instructor Policies
Student Conduct
Professional, respectful behavior and conversation will be expected. Student development session may be required of any student who is not able to conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner.
CONFIDENTIALITY
All client identifying information observed and discussed on each site is to be kept confidential in any class meetings. This is your time to learn to practice HIPPA. All students are expected to maintain the dignity and respect of any personal stories shared within the group. I am available to any student who wishes to discuss private matters related to course material. If you feel you need professional counseling services, the College's counseling center is available to students, or I can provide you a referral.
Attendance Policy
Attendance
Students are expected to intern for a total of 160 hours per semester of DAAC 1164 & DAAC 1165 at an approved practicum site. Practicum schedules are to be arranged with your site supervisor. All students are encouraged to attend the scheduled on-line virtual meetings with the course instructor. The virtual meetings will be recorded. If you are not able to attend the virtual meetings, it is the student’s responsibility to acquire information.
Your practicum attendance is to be treated as a job. If you are not able to keep your schedule, you Must contact the site supervisor in a timely manner, and email your instructor to inform that you will be on site during your scheduled time.
The student is ultimately responsible for his/her own learning and professional growth, what you put into it is what you will get out of it! It is your responsibility to conduct a realistic self-appraisal of what you personally need to master and how you can best attain it. Challenge yourself to grow as an individual and a professional.
Additional Information
Students are expected to keep a weekly log of their practicum activities in which weekly KSA domains and times are noted (see form provided). The site supervisor must sign completed entries every week. These practicum logs will become part of the student's experience record to document completion of practicum requirements for state counselor intern status.
Students are required to keep these logs up to date and may be asked by the instructor to produce these logs at any time during the semester.
Lamar State College clearly recognizes that the practicum site is in charge of client care, and all services provided. At the request of the practicum site, the college will immediately withdraw any student whose conduct or work may have a detrimental effect on the facility. If a student is withdrawn from a practicum site, a grade of W (withdrawal) will be placed on the student’s transcript. A student’s removal from a practicum site may disqualify the student from enrolling in other practicum courses.

For more information about mandatory reporting requirements, see LSCPA's Policy and Procedure Manual.
Title IX and Sexual Misconduct
LSCPA is committed to establishing and maintaining an environment that is free from all forms of sex discrimination, including sexual harassment, sexual violence, and other forms of sexual misconduct. All LSCPA employees, including faculty, have the responsibility to report disclosures of sexual misconduct, including sexual harassment, sexual assault (including rape and acquaintance rape), domestic violence, dating violence, relationship violence, or stalking, to LSCPA's Title IX Coordinator, whose role is to coordinate the college's response to sexual misconduct.
